A little experimentation with pushing film.  I went down the street to Zuma’s ranch with my wife, Emily, to shoot some Cinestill BwXX film with the Nikon SP and finished the roll in the greater Denver area.  This was my first time pushing film, and first time using Kodak xtol developer.  It’s a few more steps in comparison to the CS41 monobath I’m used to.  I wanted to make the switch because my monobath expired, and I’d heard good things about xtol, including the fact that it’s low in toxicity compared to a lot of other developers, and I feel comfortable pouring a vitamin c based solution down the drain.  I wanted more contrasty photos by underexposing the film and overexposing the processing.  This is called push processing.  However, I think two stops was a bit too much.  I also ended up with some weird spots on some of the photos, likely due to the powdered mixture not being stirred enough.
