I lost a bet, so I owed my good friend Josh a paid trip to LA.  This bet entailed a three sport competition.  I beat him in the Dave Kimmel memorial disc golf tournament in my (and his in high school) hometown of Alliance, NE.  Next, was basketball.  He being a former division 3 college player, he agreed to play me left handed.  I thought I had that one in the bag since he is right handed.  Man, I was wrong.  He beat me bad, and I’d consider myself a pretty good baller…. When the rain stopped with his left handed three’s, we went to the track and faced our final event, a mile run.  Although I’m not in peak fitness, I do around three hours of cardio per week and have completed my fair share of triathlons, including several half ironman’s and one full ironman in 2019.  He admitted never ever just going out and running for fitness.  Man, I underestimated my homie… He beat me by a quarter lap in around eight minutes.  We both were dying at the end!

The stakes were high, but it was all good in the end.  We paid his nephew Ike, and our good friend Ben a visit.  We played some pickle ball at Ben’s home court, stayed at his beach house in Marina Del Ray, and checked out the Cali Vibes reggae festival.  It was unbeatable weather with lots of good laughs and conversations.  The people watching around Venice beach was amazing, and we got to see Iration close the night with an unforgettable outdoors show.  I brought the Olympus XA2 point and shoot, along with some Cinestill BWXX film for the low light conditions at the concert.  I pushed this a couple stops, creating more contrast.  It was great seeing Ben and Ike, and I’m going to stop making foolish bets with Josh and athletic endeavors in the near future!
