I hit up Ruby Park in Denver, which has a cool little terrain park for snowboarding and skiing, all for the price of a little walk back up the hill… Not a lot of people were out at 8 am in the freezing f’ing morning as my fingers were hitting stage 1 frostbite.  I shot a roll of black and white Ilford XP2 Super 400 on my Nikon SP and later processed this, along with color Cinestill 800t film since XP2 can be processed in the same C41 chemistry, unlike most black and white.  Making for an interesting aesthetic that I wasn’t really going for, the right side of the pictures turned out darker than the rest of the frame.  What I think happened was that I didn’t quite pour enough developer into the Jobo tank, housing the two rolls of film, with the XP2 on top.  The chemicals underdeveloped the right side because the right side of the film just got a second chance at life or something… but not completely, it was more in the realms of a slight to severe chemical burn… I wasn’t disappointed with the results on this cold, snowy day, where I almost lost control of the Prius on S. Broadway hitting some black ice (not black guys as someone I told the story to interpreted it!).  There was a woman on the side of the road by the Gothic theater, and this other guy and I moved a pole that had fallen down out of the street on the slippery ice.  I felt like my good deed of the day was done, so that was a bit liberating.  I spent the rest of the day driving around bad neighborhoods, finishing up the film rolls in my three cameras, listening to some chill beat vibes or something, locking the doors at intersections….  I got the film processed and digitized in time to feed the cats and eat myself a good damn dinner, thanks to the dinner making queen!
